January 2007 - CALL ME ISHMAEL 

Well, Ish is back in New England once again. Unfortunately, the institution in MD was not compatible with his more needful "natural" care and he ended up being stalled most of his stay there for the last several months. As a result, he stocked up in all 4 legs severely and contracted a nasty thrush infection. The stable management and trainer did not understand/agree with his need to be outside moving nor did they understand the needs of the hooves. No special needs for the hooves, just movement and good trimming. So, as disappointing as the whole journey was Ish and his owner are very happy to be "back home" again. The photos below are of his hooves after his very last trim this month, Jan. 2007, by his owner!  One of my "quickie" students who has trimmed exactly 5 times in his life. The trim is exemplary and is now set as the standard for Penzance trimming! See for yourself.

	Other than being a bit tender on gravel on his "thrushy" hoof (LF), Ish is again sound and back into work. This boy has certainly had quite the journey the last couple of years but is none the worse for the wear. A parting smooch for the boy ... with his owner taking such good care of his hooves I figure I won't see him again for a few months! And maybe then I can snag a wee ride on him! *grin*
