Once you've taken a good look at the hooves from all angles from the top, let's take a look from the bottom of the hooves:

Before Trim - overgrown toes. Over grown heels and bars.
After Trim - Heels still long but because this was an initial trim they were trimmed minimally so as to keep the horse pain-free. More will be taken down next trim. 

Before Trim - This horse has wonderfully shaped front hooves. Minimal trimming was done just merely to bring the walls down and give a flat solar plane around the sole callous

After Trim - As the horse continues to move out with a proper trim the frog will grow and begin to spread out wider. There's a fair amount of initial concavity but I expect more to "grow" the further we go along in this horse's corrective trims.
