Gwenyth Browning Jones Santagate
Gwen resides in Douglas, Massachusetts with her family which consists
of her husband of 35 years, grown children and grandchildren. She and
her husband own the small, family farm called PENZANCE where they board,
train and trim horses of all breeds, disciplines and ages. Gwen has
developed and teaches many clinics and courses including Natural
Barefoot Trim and Progressive Equine Partnership Training. Her
background with horses goes back 38 years to her mid-teens when she
first learned how to stay on the back of a run-away horse! She helped to
gentle her first Mustang at the age of 18 and has successfully worked
with hundreds of horses since. She has been trimming her own
barefooted horses since the 80's and has spent the last 5 years in
intensive studies on natural hooves and barefoot trimming. She studied
under Marjorie Smith for several years during which time she also
studied the trim methods of Jaime Jackson, Hiltrud Strasser, KC LaPierre,
Gene Ovnicek and most recently, Pete Ramey. Gwen now offers
rehabilitative, restorative and corrective trimming for horses in the
New England area. You may reach her at caballus@charter.net
