Just a couple of really nice notes I've received out of hundreds over the years --
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're looking to take control of your own horses's
foot health, then check out "The Penzance Horse" website. I took the beginner
trimming course taught by Gwenyth Santagate, owner of Penzance and have been
successfully trimming all my own horses. Gwen also came out to my farm and gave
me a private 6 hour instruction first hand. From that day on I have been
trimming my own, and loving every minute of it! Gwen was just full of knowledge
and experience and her classes were chock full of information. She is still
there for me as a support if I have any questions. I highly recommend anyone
who is interested in trimming their own horses to take the online course that
Penzance offers. It was very reasonably priced and absolutely worth every
penny. In the 9 months that I have been trimming I have saved literally
thousands of dollars and I just love the convenience of trimming when I want,
not having to wait for blacksmiths to arrive, and making sure that all four feet
are truly balanced. I only wish that I had found Gwen years ago. I have a
warmblood who was given to me who is a retired Prix St. George dressage horse
who was dead lame at the trot. After 2 years of supplements, resting him,
trying different shoes, I decided to pull his shoes and go with the Natural
Trim. He is now 100% sound! I transtitioned him with the Easy BooT Glove and
never missed a ride! He is now ridden barefoot and I couldn't be happier!
Good luck and I hope you start your new year out with bare, natural, healthy
horse feet! ~Sue

Hi Gwen,
Just had to write you a quick note to let you know that I rode "N"
today at Borderland State Park and he was AWESOME!!! He was 100% sound, no head
bob at all. He was light and very forward and just wanted to go. We did
extended trots and cantered all the fields. I'm still on a high! This is the
first time in 3 years of owning him that he was this sound. I just wanted to
thank you so much for doing what you do and for spreading your knowledge. Will
you ever know how many horses you have "saved" from a life of pain. And to
think that they (vets & univ. equine employees) couldn't figure out "N's"
lameness. Shame on them and lucky me!! Hopefully "N" and I will enjoy many
many more years together in the woods and fields. Thank you, thank
you. -- Sue, MA

Gwen - you are very gifted and talented and I do feel blessed to have found you! ... Your gifts and talents go much deeper than just trimming hooves. I was able to pick "M's" hooves by myself the other day with just a leadrope around his neck. I was never able to do that before. I thank God for bringing you to Mitch and helping him. I have been trying for so long to end his pain and to see him now is incredible. -- Kendal, MA

Thanks, Gwen, for coming down and working with us. I'm very pleased, so far, with what I saw Friday. I can have a tendency to be - oh, how shall we say....a little retentive. So it was very nice for me to see you being so fussy. My last farrier would spend about fifteen minutes on him; nip, scrape, file, done.
I particularly liked to see how you handled him -- that you took the
liberty of correcting him, as you saw fit -- and the manner in which you did
so...hopefully, I can pick-up a thing or two from you while we're at it!
WIsh I could afford you to come fix all the horses down there!! --Kerry, RI
