45* Bevel of the Hoof Wall

Notice how the bevel begins at the white line in each hoof so the load bearing is shared between the white line and the wall. Also notice that very little is touched on the rest of the sole of the hoof. The least amount possible is taken from the bottom of the hooves so as to allow the sole to thicken and maintain itself at the maximum protection level.

I begin the bevel almost right off the bat. I will work with the hoof from there. I've found that doing this reduces the need for much else other than to assure good balance of the hoof and establishing a good ground level plane for the walls if not already level.

And, yes .. I do the bevel the entire perimeter of the wall ... toes, quarters and heels.
